In tradition of some of my other artist-centric mixes like “The Arrival Of Kendrick Lamar”, Pusha T “My Crown Weighs A Ton”, and Wu-Tang Killa B-Sides, I decided to focus on Danny Brown next, as he has a large catalog of loose tracks, b-sides, and remixes out there and is currently one of my favorite emcees. “Return To The Dirty D” was created on two Technic turntables and is fully mixed and blended.
The cover art – and the title – is inspired by Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s “Return To The 36 Chambers”. Originally, Danny wanted to call his 2013 album “O.D.B.” for “Old Danny Brown”, but this didn’t float with the estate of Russell Jones. I decided to pay homage to that concept with this mixtape - dj pizzo
