COVERt ART

Once upon a time, before the internet i used to study...no i don't mean school study...but i used to study cover art...if i bought a vinyl, tape or cd i'd look at the cover art hard...i'd look at it like you'd look at shit in a museum...cover art could tell me alot about a rapper...not only what he looked like, but what he was into...it could tell alot about his personality and a little bit about what might be in the music itself...album cover art has taken a bit of a hit in the digital downloading age...it's easy to not take any notice of what the artist has chosen for his cover...and in many ways that might be a good thing...but in the last few days...well, this isn't a best of covers list...just a few covers i've enjoyed over the last little bit...

...i like the colour palette on this one...blue and black and some phosphorescent green...the merging of meek and the lion and the city...i'm guessing his birth sign is leo?...and the city is philli?

...not sure if the numbers mean anything...but i like the simplicity of the black barcode and the white background...barcode could mean a bunch of things...but it makes me think about...do rappers rap just for the money or for the love?...

...this one is fun...the juxtapose of ronald mcdonald and a gun...is that hamburglar in the background?...innocence and violence...reminds of that patrick swayze and keanu reeves movie "point break"...where they wear ex-presidents masks when they rob banks...
