"Daub three-quarters of a canvas with black and white, rub the remaining space with yellow, scatter some red and blue dots at random, and you will have an impression of a sunset which will send the initiated into ecstasy...when it comes to the human figure...the artist's aim is no longer to render form, modelling or expression; it is sufficient to render the impression without a definite line, without colour, without shadow or light. In order to put such a farfetched theory into execution, the practitioners fall into a senseless, mad, grotesque mess, fortunately without precedent in the history of art...a child's scrawls have a naivete and a sincerity that makes you smile, but the excesses of this school are nauseating and revolting!"
...the critic here is talking about the "Impressionists" a group of painters from around 1870 or so...might of heard of you few of them...Monet, Gauguin, Cezanne, Renoir...recently a Gauguin painting sold for 197 million pounds...http://telepathsatnight.blogspot.ca/2015/02/bout-it-bout-it.html ...anyway the critics loathed the Impressionists...mocked and derided them at any or all opportunities...made fun of them...unfortunately the critics at that time were the gatekeepers to the general population...which meant nobody at that time, outside of a few patrons of the arts, bought the Impressionist paintings...which meant they were living on the poverty line...fuck i bet they were crying in their graves after seeing how much money their paintings went after they died!...
...what does all this have to do with A$AP ROCKY'S new album...i don't know...i'm not suggesting ROCKY is like an Impressionistic painter, cause he has fame and wealth...i just think critics are fucking useless and luckily at this point in our culture they don't have as much power as they used to have...i mean, it's okay to have an opinion based on your own feelings and how a particular piece of art relates to you and what you've been through in your life...but it's bullshit to sit up on some cloud and tell me what you spit is "objective" and therefore has more weight to it...so all these websites...ie Pitchfork...can go fuck themselves...will people be listening to this A$AP album 100 years from now like we look at a Monet painting...i don't know...depends on how society looks...if there's a Collapse of any sort...like environmental or economic it's going to be hard finding working computers, batteries, mp3 players to play this music...therefore, hearing music will likely come from local sources...but whatever trevor...did i tell Pitchfork to go fuck itself...yeah i did...check that off the list...Rolling Stone too...okay then...fuck you to william brown...cool...i give this "At.Long.Last A$AP" album 3.5 purple stars out of 5 on the telepathic radar of fuck pretty i'm gorgeous...
