Dinosaurs grazed on LSD say scientists

Dinosaurs including Triceratops grazed on a prehistoric form of the psychedelic drug LSD, researchers believe.
Grass specimens dating back 100 million years were covered in a fungus similar to ergot, the active ingredient in the drug that inspired The Beatles and Rolling Stones to write some of their more psychedelic offerings.
Samples of it were found in grass preserved in amber in Burma. In animals ergot can trigger hallucinations, delirium, convulsions and the staggers.
Dr George Poinar, of Oregon State University, said: “It seems ergot has been involved with animals and humans almost forever.”
