william brown: eh yo...i'm gonna go first...cause drama has the fear...not of a black planet, but that this album is gonna be wack...have no fear drama...willy bee is here...so i live on a small island in british columbia called salt spring island...got about 10,000 people...double that in the summer...popular tourist spot...anyway, last summer i'm down at one of the ferry terminals having a scone and coffee...i'm chillin, watching the cars come off the ferry...suddenly the ground starts shaking...earthquake!?...nah, just the bass from some car...drives by...see 6 white dudes from victoria...they got tekashi 69's gummo song on blast...locals quickly surround the car with pitchforks and torches..."not on this island" some farmer yells...not sure if he meant no rap on this island, or no tekashi or what..not sure...but it was a funny scene...what does that have to do with chuck d's new album?...fuck all...just trolling ya with tekashi shit...anyway...watching the raps/celtics while i listen to this new chuck d, mistachuck: celebration of ignorance album...what is a mistachuck...wait a second...chuck d is 58 years old!!!!...wow...i feel like getting a fear of a black planet tshirt and wearing that heavily around salt spring...give the locals a little something something...now the real challenge is would i rather listen to this album while i watch the game or is it so bad i'd rather listen to the raptors play by play guys...okay, here goes...33 minutes later...yo!!!!...what the fuck...full disclosure...i like this album...the soundscape is fresh...the beats build...dj cuts...beat changes mid songs...good energy...the songs remind me of...channel zero, my 98 oldsmobile, bring the noise...chuck rides these beats nicely...minimal corny lyrics...chuck's got a new sidekick that's got a nice flow...it's interesting to grow old with rap...can rappers in there 40s, 50s, 60s make good albums...i was doubtful...but this album has given me some hope...3.5 out of 5...veteran's month continues...
